  1. Document the process before you automate it
    Teams with clear, well-documented SOPs deploy AI agents faster and get better output. If you cannot write down the steps a skilled human takes to complete the task, the agent will not be able to learn it reliably. Process documentation is not a precondition for AI - it is the foundation of it.
  2. Map the journey before choosing the agent
    Half of AI agent requests do not address the business's most valuable bottleneck. Before building, map the full workflow - from brief to output to downstream use. Agents that do not should be retired before they accumulate overhead.

    AI agents built for a specific function - brand analytics, category research, competitive monitoring - consistently outperform general-purpose tools applied to the same task. Specificity improves output quality and reduces prompt engineering complexity. For CPG and FMCG teams, this means resisting the temptation to deploy a single "AI marketing assistant" and instead scoping agents by function.
  11. Human review is architecture, not a workaround
    The most effective AI implementations treat human review as a designed step in the workflow, not an admission that the AI is not good enough. Brand compliance, strategic judgment, and stakeholder communication remain human responsibilities. AI stages the work. People approve and act on it.
